On Tuesday night I heard the sad news that Ann Tower, a talented artist and champion of artists across the state of Kentucky, passed suddenly from this life. As a young artist I had the privilege to work alongside her for a time when she opened Ann Tower Gallery in downtown Lexington in 2002.  Over the years Ann remained a friend and mentor to me in both life stuff and art stuff. Every time we chatted on the phone she encouraged me to keep at it as an artist. Her enthusiasm for beauty, life and art was endless and inspiring to so many. My memory of her will always be of this beautiful, smiling woman breezing into the gallery, her arms filled with a fresh bouquet of stargazers.

I will miss you Ann.
